Cannabis, weed, ganja, pot, whatever you call it. If you smoke it or not you know it gets you high. And when it comes to drug test all we worry about is THC. But there’s a lot more to weed than just smoking it and THC is only one of the several cannabinoids found in this beauty of a plant…. Read More
This plant has power! And it is a cure to so many different illnesses that it’s astonishing! And that’s all thanks those these wondering things called cannabinoids.
THC (Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol) the one we are most familiar with has it’s psychoactive properties that get us high but CBD (cannabidiol ) can stop cancer.
Actually several cannabinoids found in marijuana have demonstrated the ability to stop cancer angiogenesis and metastasis, while inducing apoptosis. Cannabidiol (CBD) has shown the most efficacy thus far.
In English, cannabinoids prevent cancer cells from growing and spreading, then makes them commit suicide.
There’s :
CBN : Which is actually a breakdown product of the famous THC. It helps us sleep, increases our appetite, is an anti-convulsion, anti-inflammatory, is even an antibiotic, it helps with pain, burns and more.
THCA :The precursor to THC and a great reason to try a raw cannabis smoothie! Because not only does it help you not vomit, not get bitten by bugs and happens to be a great anti-inflammatory, Raw THCA is an antioxidant! And can prevent cancer and possibly Parkinson’s Disease.
CBG : With it’s antibacterial effects is known to kill or slow bacterial growth, reduce inflammation, (particularly in its acidic CBGA form,) inhibit cell growth in tumor/cancer cells, and promote bone growth.
And when looking at the medical benefits to marijuana it’s important to know that all it’s components work together to create this wonderful thing known as the “entourage effect” that magnifies the therapeutic benefits of the plant’s individual components.
Consider terpenes for example. There’s an aromatherapy aspect to weed too because the delicious scent it carries is all thanks to the predominate terpenes in a strain.
Terpenoids and cannabinoids both increase blood flow, enhance cortical activity and kills respiratory pathogens. When it comes to choosing which strain is right for you, it’s recommended that “the nose knows.” If you like how it smells, your probably going to like the effect. There are over 200 different terpenes: linalool, myreene, delta 3, etc. My favorite being Limonene, with it’s citrus smell, found in white widow, along with:
Concentrated cannabis products, such as shatter, wax, pre-filled vape pens and related extracts are in incredible demand across the country. And if you have already tried it then you know why! For me I need so little to get such a huge impact! And that’s because buds, typically contain between 10-20 percent THC (getting as potent as about 30 percent, in rare cases), in contrast concentrates can offer between 60-95 percent THC, making for a much more efficient way to get your medicine. For more on concentrates I recommend Mass Roots.
There’s a lot to know about cannabis and how it helps us. I’m not an expert and so I have provided several links throughout this post for you to get more info. In conclusion I hope that what you get out of this is that I put everything together for you. The cannabinoids, terpenes, concentrates, endocannabinoid system, and the entourage effect. I didn’t go into great detail about each, because I’m not an expert, instead I just provided you with the links. Like an all in one everything you should know about weed grocery list in a way. The cannabis movement is something that’s very important to me and I just wanted to put it out there that weed does way more than just get you high and we should all try to educate our selfs to the best of our ability.
Almost everyone I know smokes weed, probably because we relate to each other. But then I do know a nice handful of people who don’t and they all tell me the same thing. “Pot makes you stupid” -(in my dad voice) Or even a good friend of mine says that she feels stupid when she smokes weed.
These negative perspectives on my beloved Mary Jane I blame on two things. One the society we grew up in with their “this is you brain on drugs” commercials:
And second, stupid people who just happen to smoke weed. The weed isn’t what makes them stupid. They were born that way.
Pretty much since this country has been hell bent on not allowing research it’s still up in the air as to the real effects on brain function. However there isn’t any significant data to suggest it causes damage on a fully developed brain and I personally have been smoking weed for decades and the worse thing that’s ever happened was meeting some cops and a good case of the munchies. Physically and mentally there has been no damage at all. In fact I’m a better person because I smoke weed.
Now we have states legalizing it and medical use is almost everywhere but there’s always going to be rules this. Like all you have to do is be 21 to buy in Vegas but get caught in public smoking and it’s a $600 ticket.
And here’s where I start getting to my point. I’ve been smoking weed long before the idea of legalization or decriminalization was even mentioned in politics and I’ve taken a lot of risks for my weed. Even gotten in some trouble so why do I continue to smoke? Why do any of us smoke? Read More
There is no doubt that marijuana has medicinal purposes. It helps elevate many conditions and can even prevent and/or cure some but we know this now because we’ve been self medicating forever under the table. Like a speakeasy in the 20s. If it wasn’t for us rebels who couldn’t care less if it’s legal or not and still smoking maybe we as a nation would have never gotten as far as we have already and are continuing to do. In fact, I was told it’s going to be about 10 years for the entire country to jump on board.
From personal experience, just like in the commercial above. This country treats weed as if it were heroin. I’ve been made out to be a criminal and a drug addict just for a little weed. So again why do I smoke it?
Because weed opens up your mind. Ok, let me not speak for the entire stoner nation here but for me personally, weed opens up my mind. If I’m not high I’m closed off. All day I have a million thoughts going through my mind. All the drama that circles me, follows me or comes and finds me. It’s rush hour on the highway in my brain, congested and nobody’s getting anywhere fast, to give you a metaphor. And actually I smoke and drive a lot. Rush hour pisses me off, and it’s never going to be legal to smoke and drive, (don’t believe me check this out: marijuana breathalyzers) even though I can’t for the life of me understand stand why not. A little high ride always makes it better. (If you take high rides I also recommend reading this: Avoid Legalize Ramifications)
I suppose that’s why I’ve been caught. But this stress, and my reasons to smoke have a lot to do with society and its need to have everything done at certain times. This pressure of deadlines, start times, lunch time it all stops me from being able to center myself and set my own clock. And I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels this pressure, like I said it’s the society we live in, we were all born into this “system.”
Then you add all the personal shit. Things that we experienced. Death, loss, love, heartbreak. I know why my mind goes a million miles per hour. I, like everyone else, have gone through some shit. And it’s not to say that I couldn’t live all stressed out and pissed off but I rather smoke weed.
When I smoke I relax. My brain just stops thinking about all the bullshit. The rush hour highway turns into a back road at night with all the stars shining and not a brake light in sight. I can really center myself and remind myself who I am and what really matters to me. I refuse to stay trapped on some highway going no where.
It’s similar to having a drink after a long day at work. But a much more healthier solution than alcohol. Alcohol use to be illegal and it kills people. Pills and pain killers are legal with a prescription and they kill people. Weed doesn’t kill people. It’s just a plant. The science is so simple. All we need is sun and water like any other flower.
If it wasn’t for cannabis I’d probably be an alcoholic. But I’m not and I am grateful. Weed makes my life better. It makes me feel better. And it doesn’t hurt me. My brain is not an egg on a frying pan. My liver isn’t getting damaged, there are no “may cause” warnings needed. I love me and that’s why I smoke weed.

Blazin in Jamaica
I’m superstitious by nature and from the moment I booked my trip to Jamaica my right foot was itching. Now according to superstition when your right foot itches it means you are about to embark on an adventure where you will be welcome. And from the second I landed in Jamaica I felt like I was home! Read More
As I’m sure many of you can relate, where I live weed is something you hide. In fact, the most dangerous thing about weed is getting caught with it. I’ve actually been arrested for being a weed connoisseur. All charges were dropped. But I still had to go to jail, bond out, pay for a lawyer, get my car out of the impound and here I sit with no criminal background but I’ve spent tons of money in my defense. So to say the least I worry at times about smoking weed in public. But that wasn’t even close to the case in Jamaica.
The second we walked out of the airport every Jamaican there offered us weed. At the hotel same story. Everyone from the bellboy, maintenance guys, security, bartenders, everyone has weed.To find weed was not a problem. Aside from being paradise it was real freedom. And that says a lot because I supposedly live in “the land of the free” …and have never felt free like I did in Jamaica.
In Jamaica every ting was irie! We would sit poolside, smoking and security would come up to us and pound our fist and say “Respect mon.” We could smoke anywhere with no worries at all. You can even go on excursions to weed plantations, which was so cool:
While there I heard two different stories and one joke about how the weed situation works in Jamaica. The first story was that marijuana was legalized across the country in 2015. The other was the it was much more recently but even before it was completely legal it was treated legal, you weren’t going to get in trouble for a joint or anything like that.
The joke goes, all Jamaican citizens can walk around with an ounce legally. All tourist can have 2 ounces but only a Rasta can have 10.
The laws there I envy. Now the only problem was the quality of the cannabis. It took me back to the 90s. Stems, seeds, straight reggie. I guess being a tourist doesn’t help but it was hard to find high quality weed. The same is true in Puerto Rico and Punta Cana. You have to go into La Perla in PR to find dro. They say they don’t have the seeds we have. They lack the resources but even so with the easy access and ready availability you just up your quantity and roll big fat Bob Marley joints and you get high!
On a little side note, while in Jamaica we befriended a couple from the UK. They say the weed situation is even worse there. The cops can pull you over, and like they do with the breathalyzer test here to see if your drunk. They have a roadside test there, but in the form of a mouth swab, to see if your high or have used cannabis recently. But if proven high, you only get a ticket. Crazy right? I thought it was interesting. They also said we need to go to Amsterdam. That there you are really free.
Maybe Amsterdam is my next trip. Or maybe just Vegas since it’s the 5th state to legalize but I had to write this just to express that I loved Jamaica. Before I left I googled how to find weed in Jamaica and all the blogs said you need to go to Kingston. And that it’s still illegal and that it’s really hush hush. Who knows maybe those people writing those blogs are lame and don’t know how to buy weed in their own block at home. Whatever the case, I figured I’d update the world on Jamaica. I was in Montego Bay. It’s not hush hush, it’s not illegal. And if you’re a stoner like me, you need to go to Jamaica, it’s like the weed capital of the Caribbean…yea…mon!
